Try reading all of that, try to make sure you did everything as outlined there.
That'd be a start.

Hi,
I have tried that page before. It seems there is a dead link to the multiplayer configuration file. That may be the problem with my game.
If you know a different Download page could you please tell me it.
Thankyou very much

Okay seems to me you're missing either mv_core.vp or mv_root.vp
http://scp.indiegames.us/download.php?view.45
That's for mv_core.vp (goes in your main FS2 folder, just like that config file would)
I'm hoping mv_root.vp isn't necessary.
Anyway, give it a go like that, if anything's missing come yell at one of us in irc.

Just thought of something.
Maybe my firewall is blocking me.
Is this possible. It says i may need to forward some ports. (Boy i wish i new how to do this)
By the way, I found the multiplayer config file. It is on this page that i was supposed to remember obviously i forgot.
If anyone out there needs it here a link http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/
scroll down and under the multiplayer heading click Getting Started with FS2netd. On this page click the icon next to download multiplayer config file.
Still Haven't been able to find mv_root.vp Though.
If anyone knows. Please tell!
P.S Do i need an IRC program to play?

After that the best thing you can do is go to irc://irc.maxgaming.net/ssx and score some live help if people are active.
You shouldn't need the root.vp
Yes, you need to forward those ports if you have a firewall/router. That's sort of tricky, so I'll leave it to the ones who actually did that to explain how to do it.
These are the things to do though:
ports to forward:
UDP - both ways
local port: 7808 - remote port: any
TCP - outgoing
local port: any - remote port: 7117
The multi config file is not important if you have the latest core.vp which you should have.

I know about that avatar i put it on after i posted it.
I was talking about one from a different website. The gallery doesn't really have much variety. Anyway.
I have found someone to help me forward ports.
By the way what does nubis mean?

Nubis is short for "Anubis" which is the nick of one of our members who plays freespace and has a router/firewall.
And most of us link to offsite avatars. Are you sure you're doing it correctly? There are a few limits to it.

Dad deals with all that and he isnt in atm. I'll ask him about it later though
