Seen all stages.
It is delicious indeed, on many levels.

I remember it being mentioned to me some time ago, yet I have not seen it. Might be one for me to follow up at some time in the future though, once I have got through the mounting pile I have waiting

It's what initially got me into cars. It definitely influenced my decision of buying a white '88 RX7 - only to give me auto repair hell (and continues to) years down the road (and a hefty bill)...
But I enjoyed the anime and the manga... Wishing scanlation groups would pick that back up.

The special thing about the RX-7 in the series is that it was one of the limited "Spirit R" type, which in all tests beat the shit out of the Dodge Viper.
Viper got popular though because it was American and looked sleek, but the RX-7 had sex with Viper's mom, that's how good it is.
Anyway, the show certainly bumped up my interest in cars, of which there was none before.

So a certain site recently un-suspended the series (manga) and now it's been updated with all 537 chapters of drifty love.

just started watching it. Didn't think I would like it, but I am a good chunk of the way through the first stage and I am really diggin on it. NOt really a fan of racing and drifting, but for some reason I am likin how this is put together. The science is nice and spot on too. Then again it helps that they have the King of Drift attached to the series. ;p

Hasn't started yet. I believe the word is that they're either working on it or it's in some form of pre-production.
So it'll be a few years.

Good to hear that it's actually being made I was worried that the 4th season would be the last of the anime.

I finished First Stage today. If I could describe everything I felt while watching this anime in just one word, I would have to say:

I've never really been into cars or racing besides the odd game so the idea of watching First Stage, Second Stage, Extra Stage, Third Stage anime etc etc based on a highschool boy racer has never entered my head if I'm honest. Just don't see the appeal or how it could stay particularly interesting throughout several seasons, OVA's and a movie. Mebbe I shouldn't judge before I've actually seen it I just can't see myself enjoying something like this, then again you guys seem to speak highly of it... Whatever floats yer boat though in any case, we all like different things.
That being said Ava has been watching first stage as well so I'll wait and see what his final thoughts are once he's finished it. He'll know best whether I'm likely to enjoy it or not. Maybe I will give it a try at some point if he thinks I should.
