He died from pancreatic cancer yesterday, he was only 46 :(

I've been slowly working my way through some of his movies over the last few months, Perfect Blue (and Tokyo Godfathers) being highlights for me so far not just covering his work but anime as a whole too and I know that Mech is a fan of PB too. Already have some more of his work to look through which I planned to watch over the coming months (might bring those forward a bit) but it's sad to think there will be nothing more from him in the future for us to look forward to.
I've only been watching anime for just over a year now and there aren't many directors I know the name of (Miyazaki, Oshii, Shinkai, Isao etc) or have been interested enough (or plan) to check out more of their work but Satoshi Kon was one of them. If you've not seen anything of his you really should :)

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Not really knowing who he is beyond this post, ultimately I am afraid this means little to me. Despite that though, it is always a sad thing when an individual dies - especially so when they die young. RIP.

In that case, if my conscience becomes a hindrance to me, then I will simply erase it. Forever an eXile and proud of it!

Paranoia Agent still ranks up there as one of the most interesting Anime's I have ever watched. He will be missed.

Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika, Paranoia Agent, Millennium Actress and was working on one called The Dream Machine too. I've got Paranoia Agent & Millennium Actress waiting to watch just as soon as I'm not watching so many other shows.
